Bacillus thuringiensis Var. Kurstakiis a gram positive, spore-forming, soil bacterium. This bacterium undergoes sporulation and synthesizes a protein crystal known as cry (crystal) endotoxins. Once this cry protein has been ingested by a susceptible insect, it gets bifurcate into highly toxic domain by the action of insect gut fluid. These domains bind to the receptors present on the membrane of the gut cells. This has been resulted in series of process that damages the mid gut of insect, pore formation, osmotic cell shock, and ultimately insect death.
